About This Spot

Wang’s Chinese Cuisine greets you with the understated warmth of a well-loved neighborhood spot, tucked quietly along Kinderkamack Road in River Edge. From the moment you step inside, there's a gentle hum of focused energy balancing cozy familiarity and the lively rhythms of a place where people come together over food that invites exploration. The dining room is unpretentious yet comfortable, carrying a sense of steadiness that encourages lingering conversations and shared discoveries.

The atmosphere moves at a considerate pace—neither rushed nor stagnant—matching the thoughtful approach reflected in the kitchen. Here, the bold spirit of Hunan flavors takes center stage, but it’s the careful layering of spice, smoke, and freshness that truly defines the experience. This isn’t about quick hits of heat or familiar Americanized favorites; instead, dishes reveal complexity and depth, inviting both adventure and comfort with every bite.

Menus at Wang’s read like a personal invitation to savor regional specialties often missed in broader Chinese dining scenes—think of smoky, garlicky pork paired with crunchy sprouts, or the spirited zest of century eggs paired with crisp green peppers. These plates, crafted with both tradition and heart, seem to gather the stories of home kitchens and meld them into moments that feel both rooted and new.

Many who discover Wang’s mention its reliable authenticity amid Bergen County’s shifting food landscape. You sense this in the generous portion sizes, perfect for sharing, and in the way smaller dishes pop with fresh, vibrant flavors as much as the larger, more contemplative plates. There’s a natural flow to the meal here—from opening bites like scallion pancakes with their delicate layers, to broths and stews that echo slow-cooked patience and care.

Wang’s isn’t a place of flash or pretense. Instead, it holds steady as a quiet discovery—a comforting anchor for those who seek out nuanced cuisine made with respect for tradition and a subtle embrace of the present. Whether arriving solo for a thoughtful lunch or gathering in a small group to unwrap the layers of Hunan’s culinary depth, this is a spot where food nourishes more than just appetite. It invites connection.

Super impressed by how authentic the food here is. We just moved to NJ from California and have been looking for an authentic Chinese restaurant that’s not just about chow mein or general tso. Forgot to take pictures of all dishes. The spicy dishes have very complex tastes than just spicy, and the non spicy dishes are also super fresh and flavorful. The restaurant does get busy because it’s very popular amongst Chinese people, but the staff is always attentive and makes sure that all of our needs are met. Overall, a great experience and we will definitely come back.

This is a new popular Chinese restaurant in Bergen County. Lunch specials at the price of $10.95 comes with a dish of your choice from the menu, soup or soda and a bowl of rice. The portion is big and plentiful. We love to order a couple of the specials to share among friends. Have not tried dinner yet but it should be great as well judging from the lunch!

We hadn’t planned on dining out that day, but as we were walking by, this restaurant caught our eye. Curious, we quickly checked the menu online. My wife felt it seemed a bit pricey, so we almost went to our usual spot. But something told me it was worth a try, and I convinced her to go in. Inside, the place was clean, cozy, and had a relaxing vibe. We ordered some authentic Chinese dishes with hot tea. As soon as my wife took her first bite, I saw that look of surprise and delight on her face the food was absolutely delicious. In the end, we were both glad we stepped in. Great flavors, great ambiance, and a new favorite place to add to our list.

We’ve been here twice. I think they have some dishes that are outstanding. Some dishes are not very good, more like American Chinese food(of course it depends on your preference). The pictures I posted here are the delicious ones for people who look for authentic Chinese cuisine.

Very pleasantly surprised by all of their dishes we ordered, especially the yellow beef and sizzling tofu. Already planning my next visit.

We has the Hunan Kimchee, pork with bamboo shoots and spicy shrimp. This was the most authentic Chinese food I ever had in Bergen County. The pork was fatty and had a delightful smokey flavor. The shrimp was yummy, garlicky and served in the shell. If you can't take authentic levels of spice you should ask for less spicy. I am definitely going back to try other interesting and authentic dishes offered here. The staff was so nice and helpful, but the service was not " fine dining" as the dishes were brought out a full 15 minutes apart. If going with another person expect to share the first dish and then the second. If each expect to eat their own dish you might not eat at the same time. They didn't rush us out and it was busy for Xmas.

Fairly authentic Chinese spot. Flavors didn’t come through much since the bamboo shoots and beef were cut too thick. Place itself is decent.

Went for a Saturday lunch at the newly renovated restaurant. There were lots of table available, we didn’t have to wait at all to get seated. The restaurant is beautiful, capturing elements of the Chinese culture. I loved the ceiling lights that have Chinese characters and symbols marked in them. The menu is huge, about 12 pages. We ordered several items among which Singaporean fried rice was my favorite. Had a mix of shrimp, chicken, egg, with quality rice. The cucumber with garlic sauce was excellent too. Other items like mixed seafood with vegetables, popcorn chicken and egg with minced pork were average to me. Service wise they are really good, really friendly staff. They packed our left overs. Food came out pretty quick too. Overall a decent family dining location.
